Business Development Outbound Mission to Asia
Clean Tech-Waste Treatment
line
OBJECTIVES

Following the success of the Cleantech summit held in Vancouver last December, BDC Capital (BDC) and Monte Jade Canada (MJ Canada), with support from the B.C. Government - Ministry of Small Business, Technology and Economic Development, and the Canadian Consulate General in Guangzhou, China, are pleased to invite Canadian companies to participate in a follow - up mission to China and Vietnam this summer. This mission will focus on municipal and industrial waste and wastewater treatment sectors and represents a unique opportunity for Canadian Companies to showcase their capabilities in a rapidly expanding market. Participation will be limited to ten companies.

WASTE AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT IN CHINA AND VIETNAM
As part of its economic stimulus package, ChinaĦĤs central and provincial government allocated 36 billion RMB (~CAD$6.5 billion) towards environmental projects. Furthermore, as of this January, China's Ministry of Environmental Protection has granted approval to 153 projects around the country involving investments of roughly 470 billion RMB (~CAD$85 billion). For example, the city of Shenzhen recently approved 23 sewage projects with 10 of which have been launched.
In Vietnam, Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) recently announced a US$15 million program aimed at assisting the provincial governments in effectively managing projects related to municipal and provincial pollution. The city of Ho Chi Minh also announced the construction of a US$35 million sewage plant with processing capacity of 3000 m3/day.
We believe that it is the right time for Canadian companies to target these regions as they begin investing heavily in infrastructure and solutions dedicated to waste and wastewater treatment.
